The Town of Wickenburg is calling all authors to be a part of the award winning Wickenburg Literary Festival on April 8, 2017 in Historic Downtown Wickenburg.
The Arizona Parks and Recreation 2016 Community Event of the Year will be a great place for local and regional authors to gain valuable exposure, sell books, and take part in author talks scheduled throughout the daylong event.
Authors from throughout the southwest are encouraged to sell their books and other wares at the author’s fair from 10 am to 4 pm in Stone Park adjacent to the Wickenburg Public Library. Authors who register in time may earn a spot on stage to participate in the “Author Talk” series throughout the day. All sales booths will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Booths cost $25.00.
“Authors looking to sell their books, make a name for themselves and gain added exposure will not want to miss one of Arizona’s premier literary events,” said event organizer Robert Carmona.
The free community event will start at 10 am in Stone Park, adjacent to the Wickenburg Public Library. Events throughout the day include a “Chalk the Block” sidewalk art competition, a poetry slam breakfast with eggs provided by Hickman Farms, and the annual Wickenburg PTA book fair.
Food carts will be on hand providing their unique food options. Children’s events include a special appearance from Cowgirl Jan Sandwich as well as an essay contest and children’s book readings.
Now in its second year, the 2017 Wickenburg Literary Festival will be accentuated with a special, dramatic visit from the bestselling author of the award-winning inspirational book, “The Legacy Letters,” Carew Papritz. His skydiving entrance and horse ride to the festival will be accompanied with his dynamic stage performances for children and adults. Mr. Papritz’ visit will be capped off with his unique book and balloon launch that will be sure to draw crowds of children.
After the author fair, one of the West’s premier country rock entertainment bands, the Mogollon Band, will fill the street with sounds ranging from Hank Williams to Pink Floyd. Participants and authors alike can join the street dance and BBQ dinner from 5 pm to 9 pm. BBQ dinners can be purchased for $10, with a reduced cost child’s dinner.
